It's PERFECT that this is the challenge this week, because I just got home from the 35th annual hot air balloon rally in Wellsville, NY! This balloon had a smiley FACE at the top, so I really had to make sure it was right over my head to get a picture of it!

This is my 17 year old younger sister, one of my favorite people on earth. She's so pretty and easy going and fun to be around. Of course, when we were growing up that wasn't always the case :) But now that we're older we love spending time together not to mention she's a VERY good model for impromptu photo shoots ;)

There is a song by Lecrae called "Beautiful Feet" and in it talks about having feet that go where the Lord needs them, and feet that aren't afraid to do what their hearts are telling them. These two girls, Imani and Amanda, have beautiful feet like that. Feet and hearts that long to serve the Lord. I am very lucky to call them my friends.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE.

Let me tell you why.

A) I love the underground art culture they were portraying. Sometimes I wish I was cool enough to be a part of that. It's so inspiring to see people my age doing what they love to do, if they're getting paid or not. The different kinds of art they produce, whether it's graffiti, paintings, skateboard graphics, photos, ect, they are all so unique and edgy and wonderful and it really inspires me.

B) I love the different personalities of every person in the film. It's weird, because you look at the person and hear them speak, and then you look at their artwork and sometimes it's so obvious they were the ones who made that art. But other times, you see and hear a person, and then see their art, and you're like "What, I can't believe that guy made that art." Like the scrawny Asian kid that did those huge, awesome graffiti graphics. SO COOL! And totally unexpected.

C) I love the message it sends out about being creative. Never stop creating. If you're inspired, then do it! You don't have to have a huge, open-air, expensive studio to do the things you love. It's like the Delevan Center over in the Near West Side of Syracuse. There are old, grungy, kind of gross looking studios, but inside, people are making big, bold, beautiful, creative and amazing pieces of art! I find that awesome.

That's about it. Loved it.

-Bring RedHouse to campus to have events
-Host an event with the Wescott Theater (because it already has a good reputation among the students)
-Glow in the dark t-shirts

I've been a huge fan of Imogen Heap since I was 16. Her music takes me to this place that is calm and soothing. I don't have to think. I can just chill. I can just exist. I'm really glad she played her "stripped" down version of this song. I like this song to begin with, but the "acoustic" version I guess you could call it makes it really real and I like that about Imogen Heap.

4 a.m. That dreaded time between 3 a.m. (which is a time that no one really thinks about because it's not that big of a deal) and 5 a.m., when the sun rises. I've been up at 4 a.m. quite a few times in the two weeks. It's a funny time. I don't think I'm ever really fully awake, because I wish I was sleeping, but I AM awake. Which sucks. I also think it's funny that everyone sings about 4 a.m. Why isn't 3 a.m ever talked about in songs? 5 a.m.? Is there really something THAT unpleasant about the number four? Paul Bennett talks about how small solutions make a big difference. He uses the example of how to improve the patient's experience at a hospital. The client wanted to go all out and basically change the world, but by showing them a 6 minute video of looking at a ceiling, the design firm reminded them how the small things, like decorating the border of the ceiling, or putting a rear-view mirror on the gurneys so the patient can have a conversation with the nurse, could make a big difference. One reaction I had the "The Eleventh Hour" was that we can't take nature for granted. It won't be here forever. Another thing that the movie made me think about was how much I waste. How much water do I waste per day. How much food do I waster per day? How can I think more consciously so that things like that DON'T happen? Not only is the Earth itself being hurt by my wasting of things, but so are other people. I'm being too selfish.
